• Cancer Information and Support Centre

    When you or someone close to you is diagnosed with cancer you want access to high quality information about cancer and its treatment, and the services that are available.

    The Cancer Information and Support Centre was created to help you learn about all aspects of cancer, its treatment and the services available at the Sydney Cancer Centre, RPA.

    With a friendly team of staff and volunteers to help, you'll find a wide range of resources for you to borrow including books, journals, videos, DVDs, tapes and CDs. It also has computers with links to cancer-specific websites and specialised health databases as well as free brochures from many cancer organisations.

    The centre is located on level 3 of the Sydney Cancer Centre building, Gloucester House at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

    Cancer Helpline 13 11 20

    Provided by The Cancer Council NSW, the Cancer Helpline is a confidential telephone support service with specialist cancer nurses to answer questions about all aspects of cancer. They can send you written information, put you in touch with services near you and offer emotional support if you, or someone you care about, has cancer.

    You can call the Cancer Helpline between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday from anywhere in NSW for the cost of a local call on 13 11 20.

    If you're deaf or hearing impaired, the TTY number is (02) 9334 1865.

    While you'll find plenty of information about cancer and its treatment on the internet, the quality and accuracy of the information varies enormously. Therefore, it is very important to talk to your Doctor about whether the information you find is relevant to your situation.
