Outpatients
Outpatient facilities are mainly located at the RPA in Gloucester House. However some are located at Radiation Oncology within the main building of RPA Hospital and at Ground East at Concord Hospital. If you need any assistance, please ask at the front enquiry desk in the main building of Royal Prince Alfred Hospital or Concord Hospital.
Specialist Clinics
For most patients, your first appointment at the Sydney Cancer Centre will be at a Specialist Clinic or at Specialist Rooms. At the Specialist Clinics, you may meet a range of health care professionals, including medical specialists and nurses. At your Specialist Clinic
appointment, treatment options may be discussed with you, so it is helpful to bring a list of questions with you and a family member or friend. For more information about Specialist Clinics, please see the New Patient Information Brochure.
Pre-admission clinic
If you are being admitted for surgery, you will be asked to attend the pre-admission clinic prior to your surgery. You will be at the clinic for around 2–3 hours to allow time for assessments and tests. Please remember to bring any medicines or over the counter supplements you are currently taking to your appointment. You should also bring copies of any recent test results. At this clinic a doctor and nurse will assess you and any necessary investigations will be carried out. This is a good time for you to ask any questions you might have and to make arrangements for home support after your surgery. Please ask to see a social worker if you need assistance with arranging home supports.
