About Us

 

The Sydney Cancer Centre is at the forefront of cancer treatment and research in Australia. We are based at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, have facilities at Concord Hospital, and provide outreach services to Dubbo Base Hospital. We are part of Sydney South West Area Health Service and work closely with the University of Sydney.

We have the largest concentration of cancer specialists in NSW, and are nationally and internationally renowned for the treatment of melanoma, myeloma, head and neck cancer, lung cancer, colorectal cancer, sarcoma, and gynaecological cancer, and for our clinical cancer research.

Mission and Vision

Our vision and mission is to deliver to our patients and those who care for them innovative, effective and compassionate cancer care and support, according to the best research evidence. This is achieved through the development of a coordinated, multidisciplinary team of highly talented and motivated people working in clinical care, research education and psycho-oncology.

We deliver world-class cancer care for local, statewide, national and international patients, treating all types of cancers.  We see around 12,000 newly diagnosed cancer patients each year, with more than 14,500 inpatient admissions and 180,000 outpatient occasions of service.

The Sydney Cancer Centre also hosts leading research programs such as:

• cancer drug resistance
• cancer genetics
• gene therapy, and
• a wide range of clinical research and trials.

Our aim is to integrate new research findings and innovative treatments into patient care as quickly as possible – providing hope to cancer patients by improving cure rates and quality of life.
