Medical Oncology Clinical Trials
The unit expanded its staff to 6 FTE clinical trials nurses in line with increased clinical trial activity. In addition, a new nurse unit manager was appointed who is working across both hospitals to co-ordinate clinical trial activity. The unit is increasing the level of Phase I clinical trial activity with 3 new Phase I trials opening. This is an ongoing focus of the department which will build on the clinical trials, clinical pharmacology and biomarker expertise we already have in house. The unit has been collaborating with Dr Richard Eek from Liverpool Hospital to develop an area-wide clinical trials database to improve accessibility to protocol information and increase recruitment. |
